Last night, sitting in a bar with my good friend as we watched the Olympics and enjoyed a beer was a perfect way to begin a Tuesday. As Monday ticked and tocked over to Tuesday, I couldn’t express enough how GOOD it is to have Miles home, even if it’s just for a short time.
It was even worth being exhausted alllll day today. ALL DAY.
BUT lots of good things came out of today too, besides that early-morning bonding time.
-Free iced coffee at Starbucks, compliments of a “customer satisfaction/we took too long with your breakfast sandwich” card. Hey, I don’t care if it’s silly - a free coffee is a free coffee is a free coffee.
-Winning a commission battle with my marketing director and boss today, that I thought I had lost as of yesterday. Apparently my OLD boss, who is best friends with my current boss, really went to bat for me when my current boss asked for his opinion. This will HOPEFULLY bring in more $$ for me the rest of the year. It’s nice to have people fight for you, when you don’t even realize they are fighting.
-A beautiful, absolutely perfect run with my friend in the woods near her house post-work. There was this beautiful (hilly!) trail she took me on that I’ve never seen or run before. The temperature dropped SIGNIFICANTLY, the sunlight pouring through the trees were perfect… and the run wasn’t nearly as hard as I had mentally prepared myself for. 2.4 miles, 34 minutes. Lots and lots of hills. But I felt good!
-Two LOVELY phone calls with two of my favorite people in Arizona, who reminded me of all the reasons why I know this move is right for me, and why I am happy in the beautiful Southwest. Sometimes, I get bogged down with all the negative energy surrounding this move I am planning on making - that I forget WHY I want to make it in the first place. Luckily, I have friends who want whats best for me and want me to be happy.
-I made Slutty Brownies tonight (thanks Cassie!) for a coworker potluck on Thursday. I’ll let you know how it goes. I mean, I can’t see it going bad, but yeah.
-I DIDN’T EAT THE BROWNIES. Instead, I made a return to my love of eggplant. I had 4 or 5 bad goes at it awhile ago, and gave up. I just think it wasn’t prime eggplant season… or something. Either way, it’s back and it is DELICOUS.
-Gage wanted to Facetime with me tonight. There’s nothing I love more in this world than that little boy. NOTHING. And the fact that he wants to talk to me as much as he does, absolutely overflows my heart.
-I was home in time to watch both of Michael Phelps’ wins tonight - including the historic 19th win. There are no words for that kind of accomplishment. Ridiculous, maybe - but I cried. Moments like that are why the Olympics are so amazing…
-In other Olympic-related news, I cannot get ENOUGH of the coverage. I want to cancel my entire life and watch all night long. It almost makes me want to skip Hip Hop tomorrow…. almost.
-I found out the $240 deductible I threw down for my cyst-removal surgery back in June was REFUNDED! They claim I had already maxed out my deductible and no matter how wrong I think they are.. I am not fighting it. I got the check and that’s all that matters. Holla!
And that is how you rock a Tuesday.
