Yesterday: Woke up to e-mail from Dreamy McDreamerson. You don’t even know how it made my day.
Today: Met a marketing director for a theater in DC this morning, who is consulting in our offices for the day. He informs me that McDreamy is reprising another role in a play at his theater in DC this summer for several weeks. Guess who is DEFINITELY making a trip to DC in July? This girl. Swoon!
Also - purchased tickets for when Boston friend visits in Feb for the South Side Soup Crawl. THREE hours of soup and crawling around one of my favorite Pittsburgh neighborhoods. So fun!
Tomorrow Morning: Spinning w my girl crush/fave instructor! Then a nap. Immediately following.
Tomorrow Night: Johnstown for the KELLY CLARKSON concert w my old boss, his partner and my BFF. Seriously going to die w excitement over Kelly. Luuuuurve her.
Sunday Morning: Special 90 Minute Hip Hop Cardio Party at a gym with 6 different Hip Hop instructors including mine! So much sweating will happen. The class is already sold out.
To say I am having a good start to what will be a very excellent weekend is an understatement.
Though it was a hell of a lot more fun than Sunday, where I did a quick 20 minutes on the treadmill inbetween coughing & working online for 10 hours straight.
Worked a little, chatted with coworkers, continued coughing, and then tried a new spin instructor at the newest gym close to my work. My one coworker went with me, which was great! She had never tried spin before and agreed to go with me last minute.
I like people who agree to do things I want to do. :)
The instructor kind of sucked. And by that - I mean he was sort of a jerk. A typical frat boy who has grown up to be a spin instructor. It was a lot of yelling, which I don’t respond well to. And his music selection was less than stellar. Still… it was a workout. And I was dripping with sweat.
Then a quick trip to the grocery store to grab some necessities. Home to make lunches for tomorrow & make a quick dinner. Now relaxing before bed.
Tomorrow’s another day. And tomorrow - includes Hip Hop :)
Woke up this morning - checked my text messages to see the snow/ice were too bad for our bridesmaid dress shopping outting and it was now cancelled - then back to sleep I went.
And despite my never-ending coughing fits all last night (and this morning) I slept til noon.
And yet I was still exhausted.
The cold. The snow. The ice. The cough. The excitement of last night… just left me completely drained.
Still I got up. Made lunch. Got my mandatory 20 minutes of exercise in that Game On requires by walking with a 10% incline on the treadmill… then began to work online.
Around 5 my parents said they were going to the mall. To walk. You know - because now they are suddenly those old people who drive with their turn signals on and walk around the mall for exercise.
They offered to drop me off at the gym on their way to walk. I figured I needed a break, so I went. Despite the cough - I wanted to do better this week. I wanted to lose, I wanted to feel better about myself. So I went.
Cardio for 30. Weights for 30.
Totally kicked my ass in a way I can’t explain. Totally aggrevated my cough even more - but I feel proud of myself for still going. Now to settle down and finish my work online while I watch TV. Hopefully I’ll get to sleep early and be able to try a new spin class tomorrow morning (since we missed our favorite instructor’s class today.)
Which just HAPPENS to be a 4 pound weight gain since MONDAY. 4 pounds!!! Four pounds.
Oh the joys of being a girl.
I’m currently curled up on the couch feeling bloated and crampy and bitchy. A fabulous combination if I do say so myself.
Luckily the Game On Diet comes w a period pass, so this week’s weight doesn’t hurt my team’s score. Just means I have to lose double next week. (Yikes!) Wish me luck?
I am annoyed at the number but just have to accept its a part of life & being a lady. I ran, I spinned, I hip-hopped, I lifted weights, I did the elliptical. Really… I worked out hard & I ate to perfection. So it is what it is.
Week 3, Imma comin’ for YOU!
(But for now I’m actually going to stay here. On the couch.)
My 90 year old Grandma, while we were in the car today:
“Your dad used to run a lot. He used to run all the time — back when he was skinny. (Pause) He obviously doesn’t run anymore with that belly of his.”
Suffice it to say, she was a handful today. But we saw War Horse (her first movie in a movie theater in YEARS) and went to an early-bird dinner together, which was nice. I just can’t wait until I am 90 years old and can have an opinion on EVERYTHING. :)
It was really - REALLY - nice to wake up this morning and not be ill with fear over spinning like I was last week. Still, it was hard to leave my warm bed this morning on such a cold, snowy Saturday. But I did. Up at 7:20, smoothie made by 7:40, out the door by 7:45, at the gym by 8:30, in line for sign up sheet at 8:45, on bike for warm up by 9:05, class starts 9:15.
I pushed even harder this week - upping my resistance a lot (where as last week was mostly surviving) and kept up pretty well. And I didn’t want to kill myself after. Win! :)
Class went a little late… 10:20. So an hour & 15 minutes of spin under my belt for the day.
Few errands, picked up food for my mom & I (salmon salad for me!) then ate lunch with her.
Now showered. In bed. And not feeling guilty about it whatsoever.
Super early wake up for the spin class, then driving to my gym buddy’s house to shower for a wedding I barely made it to at 1. Late wedding luncheon w the bride & groom & their family. Then raced home to change before leaving to pick up my friend & take her into the city for a birthday dinner and (9 p.m.) show… That got out at 11:30. Then drove her all the way back home before I myself finally headed home.
Asleep at 1:30 a.m after running (and spinning!) nonstop since 7:30.
Suffice it to say, I am exhausted still - even this next morning. And my legs have completely stiffened up. So I’m going to enjoy some late-morning-lazy internetting for a bit, with my Game On diet smoothie.
